Guitar Brands

by notebooknut Tue Sep 22, 2015 3:45 pm

Alrighty. So since my band is kinda on hold since I can't play electric guitar yet I'm stuck jamming on my acoustic. So I may need a new one! What brands do ya'll suggest? :D

Oh and by the way, I'm not putting down acoustic in any way!! I'm just more of a rocker (okay completely a rocker!!!) so that would be why I want electric!! And since the lead guitarist from WAH uses an Ibenez I'm guessing it's a really good brand! :)

PRS guitars are great, but they're a little more pricey than Ibanez. Jake Jones plays PRS guitars, and Josiah has a PRS.

I have a bit of a soft spot for them, since the factory is in my area and local music stores often have great deals on them. I have two PRS guitars, a custom 24 SE, and a Nick Catanese SE. And that probably doesn't mean much to you, but if you watch gear tests, you'll see the difference in the sound.

You can also usually find a Fender Strat or a knockoff for a good price, as well! I wouldn't really suggest PRS as a starter electric, since the cheaper ones are still $400+... my friend got a pretty nice Ibanez for $100-$200, so that would probably be a better place to start.

I need a better acoustic, not electric! My electric is great. It's a Jackson JS11... At least I think haha. It's a Jackson!

Right... I should've read that better... I don't know as much about acoustics, but you can get a Yamaha or a Takamine for a good price most places.

I'm not sure if Andrew actually owns an acoustic guitar of his own. Every time I've seen him use one, it's either been Josiah's or Jason's.

Sure, thanks man! And I think I'm leaning towards Takimine, at the moment. My Dad has one of those and it seems to have a nice rich sound.

Yeah, definitely! Plus, I'd want my guitar to match my clothing, right? Hahaha! Okay, there are white on my chucks, and There's red on one of my spiked bracelets. I guess I'm not completely black hah.

Depends on your budget. You could get a pretty nice Takamine for a few hundred. Martin would be a good choice if you have some extra cash to spend. I have a Takamine and love it. No electronics on it though so I can't plug into a sound system but you get a very natural sound
