the blues is my favorite style...so any good blues player inspires me.
some of my favorite players are Eric Clapton (favorite guitarist of all time. don't mistake him being my favorite with me thinking he's the greatest of all time), Jimmy Page, Joe Bonamassa, SRV, John Mayer, Jerry Cantrell etc.
i'm more impressed by great tone than flashy technique though. a lot of players don't realize how much of your tone comes from your hands...if you have great tone, that means you know what you're doing with your hands.
Yes! Blues is totally my favorite style! (Although I like a lots of different kinds of music in addition.) See, I knew there had to be a good reason I like Disciple so much.
SRV is my favorite guitar player and biggest inspiration along with the guys you mentioned and that's just the start of it.
I used to be obsessed with all the flashy players for my first few years of playing but then after I heard SRV my focus totally changed. I'm working more on my hands than anything else now, and I'm trying to be able to play from my heart more than thinking about how fast I can play a lick. It's harder to get one good Albert King style bend than it is to sweep pick or tap IMO. I've been doing mostly blues for about a year now and I love it. I get to play all over Houston with some really good musicians and a lot of them are veteran blues players who really know their stuff.
